Marilyn's Creative Threads

“I have worked in Fashion and Textiles for many years both as a designer and lecturer and had my own range of knitwear in the 80s, often including hand embroidery.

I now work from my home, in Lewes and have returned to my love of hand embroidery. Hand stitching is still associated with Grandma’s embroidered teacloths and dollies but I use these vintage fabrics, often cutting them up as a background, combined with antique lace and use hand embroidery as part of the design. People are now relating the benefits of slow stitching with mindfulness, as a relaxing, mediative technique, especially combined with tea and cake!

I teach a series of hand stitched workshops, in different venues across Sussex. This includes hand embroidered projects, Sashiko stitching and Visible Mending.

Please check out my website for more details or contact me, if you are interested in any of my workshops.”
