Marilyn's Creative Threads

“With a foundation in knitwear design from the vibrant city of Brighton in the 1980s, my journey in textiles has been one of continuous creation and learning. I began by designing my own range of intricate knitwear, using fine 2-ply yarns for delicate lacework, often embellished with hand embroidery and beading. My career led me to lecture in Fashion and Textiles, where I ran several Fashion Knitwear Degree courses and shared my knowledge with a new generation of makers.

Today, I've returned to my enduring love of hand embroidery. My current work combines vintage lace and fabrics with a variety of hand-stitched techniques. The craft of making is at the heart of everything I do, and I am passionate about sharing this knowledge. I offer a wide range of sewing workshops—from Sashiko stitching and visible mending to beautiful hand embroidery projects—in charming venues across Sussex.”
