Studio Safaris | Sussex Craft Week

A unique opportunity to visit some top Sussex makers at work in their stunning rural studios on Saturday 14 June

 

Lewes and Countryside

The first stop will be to visit the celebrated woodcarving duo, Ash & Plumb in their beautiful former dairy, where they will welcome in visitors for the very first time.

In the afternoon, the safari heads to the picturesque village of Glynde to meet blacksmith Thomas Gonthar working in his historic forge and finally to the yard of the celebrated stone carver and sculptor, Guy Stevens.

This exclusive trip will leave from Charleston Lewes, near Lewes Station, on Saturday 14 June: 10am - 5pm. You will be joined by a knowledgable guide and there will be a chance to buy lunch at the riverside Marine Workshops in Newhaven, or bring a picnic.

Ditchling and Countryside

The morning includes a visit to two rural studios. Firstly jeweller, Jinks McGrath’s beautiful barn and then onto the workshop of the award winning stone carver, Tom Sargent.

The afternoon will be spent in the craft village of Ditchling with studio visits to two artists - wood and mixed media artist, Laurence Moranchini, then basketmaker and fibre artist, Julie Rignell whose latest work is on show at Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft.

This exclusive trip will leave from Artelium Vineyard, near Plumpton Station, on Saturday 14 June: 10am - 5pm. ou will be joined by a knowledgable guide and you will be able to buy lunch at Artelium Wine Estate, or bring a picnic.
