A Celebration of Making | Artwave 2023

We are staging an actual, living showcase of The Makers Directory talent on Lewes High Street during this year’s Artwave Festival, and want you to be part of it!

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED, BUT WE ARE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE SCHDULE THAT WE ARE PUTTING TOGETHER. WATCH THIS SPACE..!

Many of The Makers Directory community share their skills as part of their working practice - run workshops, one-to-one tuition, do talks or offer a repair service - and this year we want to celebrate this incredible offering in an interactive and immersive way. 

We have booked Gallery 207 on Lewes High Street from 1 - 26 September as part of Artwave Festival and intend - with your help - to schedule a diverse programme of workshops, taster sessions, talks and demonstrations. We want to enable as many of you as possible to take part so you can book the space to showcase your practice and work.

We are really excited to find out what you would like to share and hope there will be a mix of paid-for, ticketed and free to attend events - this will be up to you. Anything is possible - printing, ring making, leather work, carving, basketry, drawing, creative darning, papier mache, floral art etc – surprise us!

Gallery 207 will also act as a hub for The Makers Directory throughout Artwave as we want to use this opportunity to promote and celebrate everyone within the Directory, for we feel that the community’s strength is undeniably in its breadth and depth!

 

We are working out the finer details, but are inviting free registrations of interest at this stage (below) so that we can put together the most interesting programme possible, deadline 31 May.

What will £75 will get you;
• 1 day solo use of the space (9am - 5pm tbc)
• Inclusion in The Makers Directory advertising, Artwave publicity and our social media coverage for the event
• A permanent profile in the event space through the month and visibility for one week in our window display

A little more about the venue;
• Gallery 207 is a period double-fronted shop in the centre of the High Street
• The space is 5.2m wide and 3.90m deep and has two deep window displays
• All work displayed must be freestanding as there will be Makers Directory display material on the walls and changing windows throughout the month
• The events is to be manned by the participating members
• 20% commission on any sales of work is payable to the owners of the venue
• Installation and set up time will be agreed as the schedule is confirmed
• You will be asked to leave the gallery as you find it ready for the next event, removing everything brought in, including rubbish
