“I am a sculptor, based near Alfriston. I taught at Sussex university and I now run Summer Sculpture weekend workshops in a beautiful barn at Friston, suitable for all levels of ability. We work from life models in clay and make figures and explore portrait heads. This year there is Midsummer life drawing in the walled garden next to the barn.
I am fortunate to also run monthly life drawing days at Charleston, Firle. My partner Mark Divall was the resident gardener there for many years and we have strong connections with the place.
I trained at the City & Guilds Art School, London, and my work includes large simplified figures suitable for outdoors, portrait busts, and small abstract sculptures.
I work in direct plaster and clay, to be fired or cast in a variety of materials.”
